What an amazing personal essay by Jhumpa Lahiri! She perfectly summarizes what it feels like to grow up as an American with immigrant parents. Even though her parents came from India and mine came from Taiwan, I feel that we shared very similar experiences. Nationality-hyphenated (Chinese-American, Indian-American) definitely adds another dimension to life.I really need to read her novel.
