I'm a centerfold!

First off, I must apologize for my lack of blogging as of late. With Justin coming home and with my freelancing in full swing, I've been a bit busy. BUT...I have to say that I am one happy girl to finally have Justin back in the U.S. Absolutely ecstatic really. As sappy as it sounds, I get a little sad whenever he leaves for work each morning. Why can't the Army let him stay home with me all day? Hrmph.

Secondly, I should explain the title of this post, which refers to my article that was published in the January 2010 issue of Highlights. When I showed Justin my article (which is located smack dab in the middle of the magazine), he eagerly exclaimed, "You're a centerfold, honey!" Which made me smile. And laugh. :o)

Here are a few pics... (Sorry, I'm just really excited about this article!)

I must say I love the artwork they commissioned for the piece---it's really lovely and detailed. It's also interesting for me to see how my article has evolved from my very first draft to a published product. After many revisions on my end and a couple snips and cuts from the editors, the final product has arrived! Definitely worth the 20-month wait. (On average, it takes 2 to 3 years from acceptance to publication at Highlights.)

Wahoo!

And on a completely random note, here is a picture of the brownie cupcakes I made for my birthday a few weeks ago. (Yes indeed, those are Reese's Peanut Butter Cups in the middle of them. Yummy.) Justin and I gobbled down over a dozen of these puppies over the course of two days. That's right. Two days!

So many calories... But my birthday only comes once a year, right?
